I'm trying to playback AAC audio while using a parametric EQ. Does anyone have any idea how I might achieve this in MC14 or MC15?

You need an AAC decoder installed. FFDShow / CCCP work.
Then in Options > File Types, tell Media Center to play AAC files in its internal audio engine using DirectShow filters.

Matt,
I have tried that and I discovered the equalizer that comes with CCCP does not have an input preamp setting (at least that I can find). Instead, they use a compressor to eliminate clipping. The net result is horrible pumping in tracks with heavy bass. It's actually one of the worst compression algorithms I've heard. Any other ideas?
Thanks for the response.

Use the JRiver DSP engine. It has high quality effects built-in and also supports VST, DirectShow, and Winamp 2 DSP plugins.

Can you recommend a high quality parametric eq program that is compatible?

Good news! I just discovered that you can change the order that the filters appear in CCCP. It also changes the processing order. I put the volume control before the EQ and it acts as a preamp control. Seems to be working.
