Title: Library server sync questions -- is write permission necessary?
Post by: lalittle on June 23, 2010, 07:38:41 pm
Does a library sync between the client and server require that the client machine has write permission on the server's drive, or does it still sync without this?

If it does NOT require write permission, does unchecking the "sync" option always prevent any changes from being made to the server's library?

I'm torn between wanting to make changes from the client, and wanting to TOTALLY protect the server from any changes being made to its library from the client.

Thanks,

Larry

Trust The Force.

Okay -- but could you perhaps elaborate on the details?  It really would help me out to know the answers to those questions.

Thanks,

Larry

Could somebody at JR possibly confirm whether or not write permission is needed for an MC client to be able to make changes on the server during a Library sync?  In my tests, I don't see changes being made on the server, but I have no idea if this is due to the write permission status, or to something else.

Thanks,

Larry

No.  It works over the Internet, where a client having "write permission" doesn't apply.
