Title: WebPlay for iPhone - what works?
Post by: HiFiTubes on June 30, 2010, 03:48:18 pm
I am really confused about what I should be experiencing with my iPhone and WebPlay.

Currently, I have WAN and LAN access but no APE or FLAC files will play. I get a Safari error.

The web browser home page for Library Server only opens in Safari and just keeps loading when using Opera-mini on the iPhone.

Works fine in Chrome on my PC; are lossless files being transcoded to mp3 when using Windows browser?

Should any videos stream?

iPhone is behind Android at this time.  Video won't work.  Conversion to MP3 should work.

Try playing an MP3 file.  WebPlay should start QuickTime on the phone.

Okay great. It's snappy but flac and ape aren't getting transcoded.

Native mp3 is fine.

Did you tell it to convert in the settings for MC?  It's on the left side (Library Server).

I think I tried convert if neccesary. Hoping that that doesn't just figure bandwidth.

I use Library Server to serve the client on my hifi, so "always convert" isn't an option for me as I can't give up lossless streaming to my main system. Guess I'll have to find another app to stream to my iPhone.

Coming in build 70:
Fixed: WebPlay audio conversion was not working with an iPhone, iTouch, etc.

Also, conversion for WebPlay is automatic and not (currently) configurable.
