Title: Oh My God....This program is incredible...I have 2 questions.....
Post by: matt00 on July 02, 2010, 08:35:49 pm
I can't believe I never seen or heard of JRiver. I love this program!!! :D

I have two questions
1) is there a BIG difference in ripping my music at the default "6" Flac setting or "8" Flac setting?
2) when in theater view the album art is a little blurry....Anything I can do to make it a little clearer?

Thanks,
Matt

P.S. I want to rip all my music in Flac and I want the best sound quality I can get..

1) Difference between 6 and 8? YES. But only in size, not in quality (both are lossless, no quality is lost). The 8 setting will save a few kb only (little difference).

2) Try Re-build thumbnails, and of course put hi res covers  :)  (also play with the "drawing quality" setting under "Options > Theater View")

I find the sweet spot between encoding speed and file size is FLAC level 5, which is often the default setting on other programs (like the Flac frontend or foobar2000, for example).
The nice thing about flac is that the initial encoding level doesn't affect decoding speed.
