M laptop broke, I had synched it to my main computer. How do I describe this? Some of my playlists point to the path to the laptop, which are duplicates of songs on my main computer. But since the laptop is no longer there, I get the message Media Center is not able to play any of the files.

Sounds to me like you need to edit the [filename] field for those files in the playlist that point to the laptop so that they point to their equivalents on the local machine?
If the paths have a uniform hierarchy, you can batch this job in MC quite easily by selecting the offending files, right click, library tools, find and replace.
Click "Select none"
Scroll the list and select "Filename"
Find: "path to laptop\"
Replace: "path to file\"
For example: If the files on the laptop were at: \\Laptop\Music\[artist]\[album] and the local files are at C:\My Music\[artist]\[album]
You would "Find" \\Laptop\Music\
and replace with C:\My Music\
If your file paths are all over the place, this might not be the way to go though.
Does that help?
