Title: MJ8.0 will not start
Post by: pbnyc on June 22, 2002, 04:24:03 pm
I've been using MJ8 since early beta and have never had this significant a problem.  I made the mistake (I guess) of trying to use the TV fullscreen, and crashed the program trying to do so.  After forcing it to quit (using XP Home), Windows was fine.  But now (even after a restart) every time I try to launch MJ8, it automatically tries to start playing the TV fullscreen and immediately crashes.  To no avail, I cannot make it start normally again.  I tried to reinstall over it, but that didn't work.

It's critically to me that I don't lose my settings and all my library stuff, so inunstalling is IMHO not an option, but there does not appear to be any repair facility built into the installer program.

Does anyone know the MJ registry settings well enough to explain how to tweak the settings from there so that MJ doesn't try to start the TV fullscreen?

Thanks.

If you can't get it any other way, run regedit and edit this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Music Exchange\1.0\Media Jukebox\Properties\StartPlayback

It tells MJ whether to play the last item it was playing.

Set it to 0.

BTW: "FullScreenMode" is a "Reg_Binary" in the registry, so I have no clue how to alter it.

0 is 0 in hex or decimal (I believe, but always ready to be wrong).
