Title: Playing Now controls and display stop working
Post by: avid on July 14, 2010, 11:40:35 am
Still on 15.0.70, but I haven't seen any mention of a fix in .73 that would address this.

Twice in the last two days, MC has stopped responding to *some* of its UI. I can navigate the library and select an album or track to play. It *will* play one track (only) and then stop. During the play, the display of the position bar does not update and none of the transport controls work. I can't skip to the next track nor can I pause it. I can select another (one) track to play and it will play that instead.

I can also access the WebRemote interface and get the same behavior - I can select and play individual tracks but can't control the playing.

To make the problem go away I have to log off and on again. Exiting the application and/or stopping the service has no effect.

Setup:

Any ideas? I am happy to dump the process image and make it available on my site if that sort of debugging is what it takes.

This sounds a lot like this problem (with solution):

Thanks Jim,

It could be the same problem. I shall configure the QOS as advised and let it run. If the problem re-appears with this configuration, or if it has not reappeared in the next 7 days, I will report back one way or another.

Hmm ...

I'm not convinced it is the QoS problem. It happened again this evening and this time there was no significant network activity going on.

I hadn't managed to set the QoS policy (see other thread for why) so I can't absolutely rule it out. But it certainly didn't appear to be a networking issue.

I did check the DLNA service when the application and WebRemote were not working - the DLNA was fine.

So I am continuing to accumulate evidence. More later when I have it.
