Title: this server cannot be reached from the internet.
Post by: soulcancer on July 14, 2010, 10:12:47 pm
I have Gizmo and the latest MC15, everything in the media network options looks like the pic on the wiki, ive copied the access key and it says failed on my phone.
What do i need to do to fix this?
I have no clue about port forwarding or anything like that.

A firewall may be blocking access on the port you're using.

Linksys had a pretty good tutorial on port forwarding, etc.

Our wiki has an article on Network Access (http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/Network_Access).

That site seems designed to sell their product.

Wikipedia has a basic explanation:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_forwarding

Your hardware manufacturer's site might be the best source for your model.

Probably so but if you skip past their advertisements and find the link to do it yourself for your particular router, you'll find the information like:

I'm having an odd problem.  This was working fine last week but not today.
At the stage where it says Enter a JRiver access key when I hit Go it says Failed.

However...If I go to my external IP address/port combination it works fine either through a web browser on the machine or the Android browser within Gizmo.
Gizmo will then happily play from the server....
