Title: ASIO and Wavelength Proteon

I have isntalle ASIO4ALL v2 for use with my USB DAC, a Wavelength Proteon, and the only way I have found to get to play to the external device instead of the internal speakers is the tell MC15 (v8.0) to use the Proteon as the Volume Device in the Output Mode Setting. Is this the expected behavior.

I tried using the ASIO4ALL control panel to turn off the internal card and leave the Proteon on but that didn't seem to do it for me.

Don't find this sounds worse and think it is a bit better than Direct Sound...need more time to work this out though. For some reason I think that MC15 sounded better using Direct Sound in MC15 vs. MC14.

Listening to a pair of Stax SR-003 powered by a very old SRM MK1/Mk2 Pro ampl.

Thanks. That is a good setup guide but didn't quite cover my situation with a Proteon, which does not use the custom driver. Their other setup guides are for Win7 and I am running XP. Think I am ok and will keep trying different combiations.

Have you tried WASAPI? Isn't that what Gordon recommends these days?

WASAPI was introduced in 2006 as part of the new audio engine in Vista
Would be surprised if it is also available in XP
