Title: Audio output device
Post by: zuiko on August 17, 2010, 06:03:37 pm
Is there any way to get MC15 to output to more than one device? If not, is it possible to add something to theater view to switch output devices? I need to output to analog sometimes and digital other times depending on what room I am in. This is because AV receivers typically will only play digital on zone 1 and can only play analog on the other zones. Right now I have to go to the machine to switch output devices all the time which I would really like to avoid.

Are you familiar with zones in Media Center?

I think they allow exactly what you're describing: a way to talk to multiple devices or sound cards nicely.  Zones are a long-standing, core feature of Media Center.

You can switch zones in Theater View in the Playing Now screen (or by making a shortcut for your remote).

Ahh OK I had never set up zones before but that looks like it will do exactly what I need. Thanks!
