i have multiple instances enabled. and made two shortcuts with MC15.exe /Library somediflib.
the problem is that this works when no library is running, but when one is running hitting the shortcut will change the library from the already running mc.

well. to answer myself..install mc 14 besides 15 and its a breeze when you have 2 librarys.. not only for this reason...

I would love to know that answer to this. Given that there is an option to open two instances of MC, then surely it is precisely to deal with 2 libraries. And yet as Gappie notes, when you have 2 shortcuts (one for each library) selecting the 2nd after the first just changes the librarie.
How can we run 2 instances at once?

I use a portable install most often for this.

That's not an option for me. I work with my documents library on my laptop (it's open all the time) and I listen to music by opening the library on my htpc via media server.
The truth is that I have always just used the one library for everything on my laptop. Whenever we would listen to music in the living room, I would copy the database over to the htpc. But I always sync in one direction only, ie from the laptop (where I do all my tagging) to the htpc for listening. So I figured I would take advantage of media server and load the htpc library for music, thereby maintaining all the last played info and keep a Docs library on my laptop. Thing is I'm in the woodshop all day where I need my Docs library open all day, and I need to also access the media server library for tunes. If I can't open both libraries at the same time then I will have to go back to keeping just the one library.
