Title: Can't play AAC
Post by: BoyLi on August 25, 2010, 05:36:24 pm
Hi guys,

Some AAC streaming files MC just won't play. I tried to change direct show filters, etc.
Those are some internet radios and all other players stream them just fine, dunno what to do anymore.

Welcome.  I'm not sure whether DCBass will play them.  Try this link:

I think DC-Bass Source Filter may not be able to play Internet streams. Yaobing recommends the Orban aacplus plugin:

If DCBass still does not help, you can try Orban aacplus plugin.  You should be able to find free download on the internet.

Thanks, but I red all that before I posted, of course and tried everything. But here's the tricky thing - some files are playing without a problem.

Here's the link for the file, maybe you can try it:

Thanks for the help.

Thanks Alex B, that solved streaming for some files, but most of them doesn't work. The biggest problem is that all other players play those files without a problem...

It works for me after I downloaded (http://www.free-codecs.com/aac_aacplus_player_plugin_download.htm) and installed the Orban AAC/aacPlus Player Plugin and set the playback options as in screen shot...

Thanks, I've done that, but still most of the files doesn't play. I'm starting to losing hope...

I just tried the streaming source you linked above.  It works, using Orban AACPlus filter linked by rick.ca.

Make sure you set AAC audio (m4a, aac) type to play in "JRiver audio engine (using DirectShow filters)", and set "Source filter" to "Orban-CT AAC/aacPlus Stream Parser".

Can't play AAC+ streams with this plugin installed.  Shouldn't be this involved.

Install the plugin and configure MC to use it. How much less "involved" could it be?

Maybe someone a little more helpful would make it 'less involved'.  'Configure MC to use it' isn't helpful at all, the tone of your message is rather rude.  If you're not going to type something helpful, do something else with your fingers -- I'm sure we could think of some activities for you ;)

It's a legitimate question. I had no difficulty installing and configuring it. I posted a screen shot showing the configuration settings. If for you it's more involved than that, you need to explain why.

This worked great, thanks for the clear and concise instructions (screen shot was super helpful!).

Cant play AAC stream from
http://www.radioparadise.com/musiclinks/rp_128aac.m3u

Installed and configured Oraban plugin as in the screen shot. Player says "Opening" message and then displays "Media Center encountered errors when playing last several files...make sure path is correct...". This url plays in other players though.

From his previous posts here, I think we have to assume he's just trying to annoy me at your expense. Please try to ignore him—you'll find most people here very helpful.

OK. Is there a way to reach MC tech support to get help on this?.
