15.0.99 (8/20/2010)
10. Changed: Ogg and flac tags map database PUBLISHER to ORGANIZATION, database ORGANIZATION (if existing) to JR_ORGANIZATION, and if there's an ALBUM ARTIST write it out as both ALBUM ARTIST and ALBUMARTIST. Read either, ALBUM ARTIST preferentially.
Great, thanks!
I updated the flac files in MC library from tags and Albumartist was nicely imported. The Organization tags were, however, not imported to Publisher. Anyone else seeing this? I have a custom field named Organization where I have already imported those tags. Could that have an effect? (It worked having custom fields Discnumber and Albumartist and importing into the stock field, but those fields are still written to tags.)
Below is an example of my tags:
Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC)
44.1 kHz Sample Rate
16 Bits Per Sample

It seems to be still buggy. Currently MC writes:
The standard library field Publisher (should be ORGANIZATION inside the disk file)
FLAC: nothing incorrect
OGG: ORGANIZATIONJR_ORGANIZATION incorrect
A user library field named Organization (should be JR_ORGANIZATION inside the disk file)
FLAC: JR_ORGANIZATION correct
OGG: PUBLISHER incorrect
I attached a small sample package. It contains four files. OGG & FLAC tagged with MC15.0.101 and the correct files (tagged outside MC).
EDIT: Tag reading seems to be partly incorrect too. It should simply use the same mappings as tag writing uses.

Thanks for the reply! I guess I just have to disable writing Organization to the tags and wait for next build then.
Do you see any issues with Albumartist?

I asked this in a separate thread but got no reply:
MC is getting more and more clever when importing tags from music file tags. As of the last build I can get rid of one custom field that imported the Discnumber tag from my flac files and one calculated custom field that merged the custom Discnumber field with the stock field Disc #.
The problem is that I have a lot of calculated custom fields, sort presets, smartlists and panes and columns with expressions and it is difficult to find every expression with the two custom fields I want to delete. I tried having a look in a library backup but I could not figure out which files to look in.
Is there a way to find out where a custom field is used in expressions (including smartlists and presets)?
Do you know if this is possible? I guess it should be since everything is stored in the library backup, but I do not know where to look.

Album Artist works correctly.

Thanks for the clarification...I was getting confused!
Any chance we can get LABELNO to be mapped from the Vorbis Comment Block (FLAC) to the library somehow?
Also - is the Catalog # field new? Or did I put that in and forget?
Cheers!

Good, it feels much better now that you have confirmed it. :)
Thanks for your efforts to investigate all taggning issues!

They are not stored separately from other data. You can't edit the .jmd files outside MC. AFAIK, the only way the correct everything you have would be to systematically inspect and fix the expressions, one by one.
Perhaps you could simply delete the excess fields and hope that you will notice when a stored expression doesn't work anymore.

I will try that and hold my breath.

Hmm... Naturally "LABELNO" should work if you create a library field named LABELNO. You can edit the displayed name without affecting the tag header that is used in the physical file tag.
Catalog # is one of the default fields.

Thanks Alex, fixed in the next build.

Alex,
That worked perfectly - now I can tag Label and LabelNo in Tag N' Rename and have them transfer right into MC...awesome!
