Playing xvid videos is jerky.
Which filters should I use?
I have coreavc installed as well as cccp
Cheers

come on guys, does nobody play xvid files.
-
I do, as I'm sure many other users do. I also use CoreAVC with the filters installed by CCCP. Xvid playback is not jerky. Without additional information, I can't even guess why you're having a problem. Have you checked the filter graph? Have you examined your logs? Have you checked a task manager to see if some other process is hogging resources? Didn't you play Xvid videos before now? Have you changed anything that might affect playback?

I use ffdshow video decoder for Xvid/DivX, with ffdshow audio decoder for audio, and EVR as renderer. CoreAVC only decodes h264 as far as I know.

Thank you fitbrit, I will try those filters.
Mine was set on auto.

Hello again
I have some really good movies coded with XviD 1.1.2 Final
I cant play them as the sound is terrible.
Which setting can I try as I have tried several with no changes exept when I change some the lip sync is awful
I am also confused with the source filters.
Cheers

Are they avi files? What is the format of the audio track? (Mediainfo can show it: http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en)
What do you mean by terrible? Is the sound somehow distorted or do you mean just the lip sync issue.
The DirectShow graph might reveal something: Right-click the video screen during playback and select DirectShow Filters > Copy graph info to clipboard. Paste it to your reply.

I have just installed the new cccp and the lip sync is fixed.
The file is an avi, what source filter should I list?
I have all the other settings sorted.
Thanks

I'm going to give you a rule of thumb...
It is generally best to leave the settings under Tools -> Options -> Video -> Decoders, Renderers, etc -> Playback Method set to Auto as much as is possible. These settings are useful for overriding the default windows settings (if you want MC to act differently than other players on your system). However, in most cases, you want to set up your filters to be correct automatically via the normal Windows processes, and then MC will "Just Work". In other words, generally don't mess with them unless you already know what to pick.
If you can't get it to work right with it it set to "Full Auto", then select J River video Engine (directshow) and then still leave as much set to auto is possible in there. It can be useful to do this to pick a Video Renderer, and sometimes an Other Filter or two, but usually the Source Filter will be picked correctly by the system.
CCCP should work right with everything set to Auto, certainly for MPEG-4 ASP (XviD). If it doesn't, then something is probably wrong with your filter installations, not any setting in MC.
