Which is the best way to connect the  laptop using jriver with a dac? usb or optical output?

Optical decouples the units electrically to avoid ground loop issues, and it is less susceptible to EMI/RFI.

If your DAC is asynchronous protocol, using WASAPI (which you could use for your motherboard sound device no doubt) would prove fruitful.

I'd lean towards USB, but try both.
