Title: Can I have MC play off my external drive?

I've got a firewire DAC, but no firewire on my laptop. My external drive however does have firewire. I want to know if I can play MC off my external drive, so that it recognizes my DAC?

Or, is there another way to do this? Basically, the DAC is not connected directly to the laptop, only via my external drive.

I've purchased MC, I've tried using the "portable" install, I've looked through plug-ins but just haven't been able to make this work. Any help would be appreciated! :)

No. This is impossible for a thousand reasons and no software will help fix this, so I suggest you stop trying.

hey,
you can't do it with any software, but mayby you can buy a express card for yor notebook.
google something like that:
USB 2.0 and FireWire ExpressCard USB / FireWire - ExpressCard/34
