Title: MC15 doean't understand BBC RSS feed
Post by: simon.windisch on September 25, 2010, 05:08:03 pm
Hi there,

I've been a user since MJ7

I have MC15.0.95 and I went to Podcasts -> Home -> Add New Feed -> url= http://feeds.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/bbc_one/drama/list

but it says

This podcast feed is not currently available, or contains a data format error. Please notify the webmaster, or just check back later.

XML Field Error: Feed tag=rss value=

But Google Reader can interpret the feed OK, so is this something you can fix?

Thanks - Simon

That feed points to things like this:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0084b85/Massacre_in_Rome/

We support feeds that point to MP3, MP4, etc. but not HTML with embedded flash video.  In other words, not all RSS feeds are Podcasts.

Any chance of getting jpg's from deviant art supported?

[edit] forgot to mention, they're coming down as mp3's instead of jpg's. If it's b/c they're not really a podcast I can live with that... *sigh* ...  ;)

Ironically, my workaround for this is to use AutoTagger to change the extensions (and then I re-import the files). Unfortunately, it's unable to retain the rule (it saves the expression =RemoveRight([Filename],4).jpg, but loses the field filename). So I have to fix that before each use. The things we have to live with... *sigh*  ;D
