Hi,
When I try to import a single folder (MPC version SV8) Media Center always crash. I notices that it is OK with SV7 MPCs.
Dunno what to do as I have converted all my music to MPC SV8 ?
Please help !

Same crash with 15.0.113 :(
Giving 15.0.106 a try...
-
15.0.106 crashes too :'(
Now I cannot even start it it crashes by itself. cannot delete library, it crashes... I think I have to uninstall it correctly and reinstall it
-
Did you try rebooting?
-
Yes I did. No way... Finally I reinstalled 15.0.118 "from scratch" and I use my old MPC SV7 library until a fix is available...
-
SV8 support has been in for a couple of years. Did you just start having this problem? Can you email me a song that crashes?
bob (at) jriver (dot) com.
Thanks...

SV8 MPCs make my MC15 crash when I want to add them to my library, but SV7 MPCs do not.
How can I know which song(s) my MC crash please ? As soon as you tell me how to I send it by mail to you :)
-
I just encoded one in MC using MC's sv8 encoder and it imports fine.
Did you produce the mpc's in MC or did you get them from elsewhere?
If you got them from elsewhere, just send me one.
-
Thanks,
I used mpc2sv8.exe 1.0.0 from Musepack SV8 tools to convert all my SV7 MPC to SV8 MPC, not MC's SV8 encoder...
I send you one in a mail :)
-
E-mail sent :)
As I tried to import many times, I have to say that it crashes randomly, not always with the same file.
I tried auto-import too, MC crashes the same...
-
Got the file. It imported fine for me.
Interesting that the encoder version in the tag is 1.15 alpha. The one in MC is the official encoder stable version 1.30.0.
I'm not sure that the problem is the mpc file type. Are these files all on the PC's hard drive?
Could you try import one or two at a time to try and get a reproduce-able crash?
-
I've encoded with Easy CD-DA Extractor, and you're right I've read that it uses MPC encoder 1.15... I've posted on Easy CD-DA forum to ask for use of 1.30...
What do you mean by "reproduce-able crash" ? As I said it appears randomly, not always with the sames MPC file.
Gonna try to import artist by artist but that's the only thing I can do as I have encoded hundreds CDs (more than 4200 MPC files...)
P.S. : Yes all the files are on a hard-drive (4 drives in RAID 5)

Files imported little bit by little bit, still crash :(
-
I think we may have a lead on this, hold tight...
-
Please test this build and let us know what you find:

Thanks.

I've encoded with Easy CD-DA Extractor
Interesting - I do all my rips/conversions with Easy as well..and I too am now having a boat load o trouble with 118 and FLAC exclusively...I wonder if there's a tie in here somewhere?
Cheers!

Mail sent ;)
Tested my computer 2 weeks ago, rock stable (prime95 and Linx)
Hope you'll find something usefull :)

Thanks for the logs.
Unfortunately it looks like the problem we fixed isn't the same problem you're seeing now.
Would you be able to email me this file (which is the one it crashed on in your log):
D:\Musique\SV8\Pink Floyd\The Piper at the Gates of Dawn\Pink Floyd-10-The Scarecrow.mpc
Thanks!

Thank you very much :)
File sent !

Thanks for the file. It has a corrupt APE tag. If you look at it with a text editor, you'll see that it has an APETAGEX footer, but junk for the tag.
The MPC plugin was using slightly out of date APE tagging code. The latest reference APE tagging code handles these corrupt tags correctly (which is to say it ignores them, and doesn't crash).
The MPC plugin will be updated in a coming build. You might double-check the tool you used to do the APE tagging, since this shouldn't really ever happen.
Thanks for all your help.

If there is someone to thank, it's you :)
Yes thanks for all your help and your reactivity (quick replies with always good ideas :) )
J River Media Center is the best player on world, it's worth its price :D
I'll check for future releases :)
Thanks again for all Matt
Regards,
Eric
P.S. : I now encode with dBPowerAmp, pretty nice program, I installed the MPC encoder pack, then change the .exe with the SV8 one (1.30.0)
Everything's fine :)
