Title: Assigning Letter A: to your CD/DVD Drive
Post by: Tezzles on October 02, 2010, 10:07:03 pm
I have downloaded the latest version of Media Center 15, but despite reporting this problem months ago, it will still not recognise any cd in the drive if the drive letter A: is assigned.  Considering that modern pcs do not have floppy disk drives, and that many of us have machines with multiple drives and partitions, we should be able to use these letters, which were originally designed to be used as boot drive letters, for cds/dvds. If Windows Media Center can do it, surely JRiver can.  I am disappointed in the lack of attention.  :(

A:\ and B:\ are not supported, by design.

These are traditionally floppy drive letters, and we avoid them for performance reasons.

We may reevaluate this decision in a future version, but for now, you'll have to choose another drive letter.
