Title: MC Frequently Crashes

I love the MC but is there any way to keep it from crashing constantly.

For me this has been a problem for the past 5 years, regardless of XP, Vista or now Win7.  Today alone MC crashed about 5 times.  It's just a pain.

Any recommendations?

This is not normal.

First, install the latest build, downloaded directly from JRiver:

I had my iPod plugged in.  I removed it and now MC15 runs fine but crashes within 15-30 seconds after I plug in the iPod (160 Gb).

Did you update MC?

MC may not support that iPod.  But it shouldn't crash.

Updated MC, rebooted and it still crashes.  To the best of my knowledge, I have no external plug-ins.

I will try re-installing tomorrow or Monday.

BTW, I thought MC synced with iPods.  At least, it has always worked for me.  If it won't, then my main reason for using MC disappears.  Which is a real pain as it is way better than iTunes.

Please see the board here on iPods.  MC works fine with older iPods.  Apple decided it was better for their customers if the new iPods were protected.  Everything is encrypted now.  MC won't support them.

 I downloaded 15.0.130 as indicated and updated MC.  Didn't correct the problem.

So I will try to uninstall and reload.

I can confirm... I rarely have issues with MC crashing on any of my systems.  There was an issue with some recent builds (around three weeks ago) that caused some crashes for some people, but that's been fixed and it certainly hasn't been an issue for five weeks, much less five months, or five years!

If it only crashes when you connect your iPod, could you zip and email a copy of the files in the [iPod drive letter]:\iPod_Control\iTunes folder to matt at jriver dot com?

I reinstalled MC15 and it appears to have fixed the problem but now I have another problem.

When I restarted MC15 after the reinstall, the library was empty.  I restored the library from the backup that I made prior to the reinstall.  But when I close MC and restart it, the library has disappeared and I have to restore it from the back up again.

I have gone through the options menu and everything appears normal.

I searched through the forums and didn't find anyone with a similar problem.

This is part of my ongoing saga with MC crashing.  I installed MC 15.0.150 and then imported about 250 files into the library.

I was trying to play a couple of flac files and MC doesn't seem to want to play them.  It seems very unresponsive/slow.  The file finally started playing but then when I attempted to play another song MC completely hung.  This has happened several times.

Try a library with a single filetype.  MP3, for example.

File/Library/Library Manager.
