I posted this in a JRiver oriented thread in AVS also...
I got a new cable modem/router today... one that was easier to do port forwarding on than my old ADSL one. Bingo! Now I can play my entire JRiver Media Center 15 library from anywhere with an internet connection. The installer even played songs from my library on his iPhone using 3G.
To test this, I used Logmein (a remote desktop software) to log into my work laptop a couple of Kms away. I opened up MC 15 on my work machine and connected to my home library. I then had the pleasure of seeing music from my home PC play on my work PC... on my HTPC using a remote desktop!. Just for laughs I tried playing a 720p h264 video too. It played for sure, but video viewng through remote desktop is always choppy. Not sure how choppy it would have been in person; I'll see that in action tomorrow.
