In version 113 it worked perfectly
Since 136 I try to change 'Album' and 'Year' library fields according to new values in the folder/filename
This doesn't work anymore, the old values remain active ::)
I tried it both on a client and on the server, both don't do it!
I might have missed something but no idea what... ?
Thanks
PS: I love the new tag management, much easier to work with than before! Too bad that I have to go back to version 113 for now...
-
well, I tried to go back to version 113 - doesn't work anymore
then to version 95 - doesn't work
then to version 80 - doesn't work
it seems as if the library is open in "read only" mode (although I can enter new values in empty fields)
only difference I see is that my music track count is now a bit over 300'000 tracks... 304'XXX
is there any such limitation built-in?
-
No, there is no arbitrary library-size limit (or at least, not anything even close to that low, perhaps if you hit millions of assets or something). Are you trying to make changes from a client copy of MC?
Are the Library files (the database, not the media files) accidentally set to Read-Only or something?
-
works here. less files though, but who knows. 8)
could it be you turned of the small cross besides the values you want to use?

Well, I tried it in both versions on the server... the opposite route "Rename, Move, Copy Files..." works fine... I can change 'Year' and 'Album' manually just fine (so I suppose the library cannot be set to 'read only")... if I try to update the values automatically based on "Fill Properties from Filename..." which I have set as
[Year] - [Album]
then neither the 'Year' field nor the 'Album' field gets updated
pretty weird situation, as this worked always before like a charm and I didn't change anything in the settings (and by the way, after managing 300'000 tags I'm not exactly feeling like a noob in all this)
gappie, which small cross do you refer to? please advise :)
-
well.. after the words directories and file name you can set what to use. when both are disabled nothing will happen except that the screen closes.

yes, but these are checkmarks and they are set since years, nothing changed since
another idea... just as a thought... it seems that Matt&Co have worked on authentication and such... I tried to do a "Fill..." on the client first... it didn't work... so I tried the same directly on the server... didn't work either... probably it's an internal flag set somewhere and didn't get cleared
what I saw is that I have set 'Authentication' on the server... on the client it is greyed out, but i can switch it on with a checkmark... just doesn't make much sense there, I suppose... but it can have some influence, who knows
just no idea why it shouldn't work, nothing has changed from my side
?
Now I re-install version 136 (because I like the new tag management...) and finish my actual batch of 700 tracks... and when I get to the next new batch of tracks I have to run this anyway again, then I report if I run into troubles again :)
-
well, I forgot to mention that with a new batch it worked just fine again
having a 'recently imported' list filled up with something and doing the update created the problem...
everything works now fine again in 136
