I'm getting duplicates when updating/loading my mp3 files. When I've deleted one of them
its deleting the mp3 file itself.

When you delete from the media library, a popup panel comes up for confirmation and you can say, by checking a checkbox at the bottom of the panel, if you want to delet just the entry in the library or the file on disk as well.

Have noticed the same thing when using the Download Manager, primarily with album downloads from EMusic. One of the two files is always a phantom - when you try to play it, you get an error message indicating the file can't be found, the path is erroneous, etc. Obviously that's the one to delete, but it is a bit of a nuisance to check each file to see which one you should dump.
Just curious though - what's causing it?

Hi Harry,
Do you import directly in the download manager?
I'm asking because I also subscribe to Emusic and I do a lot of album downloads (Love the convenience of the full album download in MJ!) and I've never see this. But I download in a separate folder, import, then update the files with the cover arts, and analyze replay gain and finally rename the files from the tags to match my organization scheme

This usually happens when I run a refresh or an update and it searches my other files that I have MP3 on. I'll take your suggestion and click on them and see which one comes up in error.
But I think this is a problem that Media should fix.

Well, I took your suggestion and click on both dups and both came up playing OK, so I deleted one and did not click on the 'x' for deleting file but when I went to click on the one I left behind, it wouldn't play the song even though the file is still there. Again, Media needs to
fix this problems

Claudio:
Mostly album downloads using Download Manager. I only occasionally do single files. Never checked to see if that creates a problem.
Skylarplane:
Agreed. A bit of a nuisance. The duplicate files are identical in all fields (Comments, Type, Location) to the real thing, so the only way I've found to deal with them is either LIbrary Update, or testing them individually.
