Title: Artist Name Media Center is changing
Post by: LH on November 01, 2010, 05:31:50 pm
When I import a album, I notice that the Artist INFO get renamed to some other artist name instead of the one I imported.  Does anyone know how to correct this?
Thanks in advance for your help.

MC won't change the Artist name, but maybe the tag is wrong.  Try editing.

Hi Jim, thanks for the prompt reply.  I would like to send you a picture of this because it is changing when I import so you can see.
The info on the folder is correct but it changes when I bring it into MC. Thanks..

The name of the folder will not affect the artist name.  MC will use whatever is in the tag.

There is a way to use the folder name to create an artist name, but it's a little involved.  If you want to try it, experiment with MC's Library Tools.

Ok.  This is how I fixed this issue. I clicked on the small icon in the upper left hand corner after I went to edit the Tag features
and changed it then it fixed the entire list. I selected show tags with values has been selected then I edit the artist name, but I still do not understand why when I imported this album it had the wrong information from what the cover art stated.

JimH, How do I refresh the screen after I make my tag changes so I can see the changes. Thanks.

F5 as in most windows applications, or those two arrows going round in the left corner?

edit: if the files had wrong info, that info was already in the files. when you download files from the internet even more so. the file structure wont help, using the filestructure to correct the info in the files with mc does.
