Title: Dolby on passthrough
Post by: maid on November 10, 2010, 04:07:34 pm
How can I tell if my system is passing a dolby movie though passthrough?

I have a couple of movies that look like they are going though passthrough but the sound is not right.

What do I look at to check?

My Denon tells me the input mode, which is generally how I know.

However, you can check the input/output results in FFDSHOW if you're using that for video decoding.  In the FFDSHOW Audio Decoder window, switch to the Info & CPU section, and look at the Output description.

If you mean to check this whilst the movie is playing, It does not show anything

Yes, you are right.  I was wrong.  It doesn't show when it is passing through, which makes sense because it isn't processing the file (just passing through).

This also does not show any info when played from another source with no passthrough.
