Title: Syncing to Handheld while modifying some field values
Post by: Osho on November 25, 2010, 04:01:40 pm
Hi,

I want to set-up a Handheld Sync such that whenever an audio file is transferred to the Handheld certain field's value is changed. Specifically, for any multiple artists album, I want to change the Artist, Album Artist and Album Artist(auto) all fields to change to "Assorted". Is this possible?

Here is the motivation why I need to do this. My Car (2011 Honda Odyssey Touring) navigation/media unit has a capability to play music collection from iPod or external USB drive. The in-dash Audio browsing system insists on adding all Artists (even those from multiple artists) to the Artists List under each Genre. And, this makes navigating my music collection nearly impossible.

Thanks,
Osho

Osho, I've found no way to do this with MJ or any other media librarian I've tried. As a workaround, I sync to a SUBST drive, run a different program to adjust the metadata, reimport into Media Jukebox (first having wiped the library to work around MJ library update issues) and then sync from there.

Messy.

If you find a better way, do say.

No,

I have not found any way at all.. bummer..

Hope this will be considered at some point of time for MC16...

Since MC has no field update scripting at all currently, I'd be surprised.
