Title: Which Version of Real?
Post by: AlonsoN on June 15, 2002, 10:32:05 am
In another message Scub pointed to a link at Real to get older versions of RP, available are the free Real Players versions 3,4,5,G2,7,8.

Question is what version will give best playback and compatability with least instability, intrusiveness, annoyance, etc.

Any ideas?

I will go for 8 that you can update with the new Real codex

Here some tips

Better to uninstall Media Jukebox

Install realplayer8,check for updates and get them
Set realplayer to NOT take any files, uncheck 'start center'
After that install Media Jukebox

You will have hard time to set Media Jukebox to open all real files
You can do it from Windows explorer. But if you set all real files to be open by Media Jukebox, some files will just not open
As a rule if you can choice between a real or Windows stream-music or video, take allways the windows format
Much better quality and Windows media player-unlike real-does not open if you have set Media Jukebox to do so
