Title: Renaming files via library server client
Post by: ChrisRainman on November 29, 2010, 05:28:06 am
Will it be possible to allow renaming files based on the rules dialog on library server controlled from client?

This would allow me completely organizing my living-room server from any client. It's already great how client operations improved in regards of tagging synchronization, CD burning. But this feature would make my wishlist complete...

Not of interest to anyone?

I'd like this also.
I tried it today.
The dialog box popped up with the file path and showed the correct new path.
the problem is, the client doesn't have access to that path over the internet.
It was a test file, so I went ahead and tried it.
The result was the record for that song was completely removed from the library and the audio file remained in the original folder.
I had to reimport the audio file back into the library.

I'd like it as well, but the real problem is what you describe above. If we can't do it, OK, but don't let us think that we can when the only result is that the file essentially gets removed from the library.

Why should the client have no access? I can listen to the file. So why not moving it? For me, it just looks liek the path shown in MC is invalid (m01p...)
Would it be possible to replace the source file location by the correct one?
