Title: Remote Control via iPhone
Post by: lostvibrations on December 07, 2010, 07:31:22 am
Just wondering - is there an app for the iphone that will allow the user to browse his JRiver music library remotely and play/pause/etc from the iPhone?

No app needed, just the browser.

There is more information at the top of the Media Network board or on the wiki.

Webremote might be the kind of thing that allows users to browse their library and control playback from their iPhone, but it is very basic, cumbersome to browse and fiddly to set up.

Are third party developers able to work on this issue?

Anything that works as a DLNA renderer should work on your LAN (wan is another issue). PlugPlayer works on the iDevices.

Please report any problems.

Has anyone used this?  I've gone to itunes and the remote but always preferred jriver remote because I could 1) shuffle the songs then view them as they would play 2) zone support.  I'm not a big fan of the web browser to play jriver with.

Can anyone speak to this app to see if you can do that and how easy it is to set up.

Thanks.

You can also consider BitRemote:

IMHO, it's the most complete iPhone remote software for MC.
It also uses a web browser. I personally work with a dedicated iPhone browser (Atomic) so I can enjoy a.o. multitasking.
