I do all the tagging and ripping on my PC. The music files are stored on a NAS, filepath x:\Music\Artist\Album\...
I used to periodically distribute this library to our living room PC using libray backup/restore.
Is is possible to sync the content of my library to the other PCs throughout our house using the library server service?
Since no of the PCs is running all the time, a manual sync would be fine.
I tried it, but with no success:
- I start the server service on my PC
- I start |File|Library|Sync Library...| on the client PC with the correct IP address
- The sync process is established
But:
- As long as "Merge Files" (client option) is not ticked, the sync process starts an stops in no time
Result: the client library gets no updates from the server library content - When "Merge Files" is ticked, the server starts copying all the music files to the client (default directory)
I would like that only the library gets synced
What can I do to get new library content to the clients?
Maybe I missed an option in MC15 or tried it with the wrong function.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have the exact same question & request as the original poster, please put real library sync on the wait list for MC16 !

Hi!
You can copy the library from your PC to the NAS into an appropriate folder... Then from the client map the NAS with the same drive-letter (x). In MC goto to Library manager and load the copied library from the NAS. Using UNC-paths works also...

Hi JohnM, thank you. Good idea!
Which MC folders have to be copied?
@JRiver
Please let me sync the library only (maybe with MC16).

If you have it in the default location you can find your library in
C:\Users\"your username"\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 15\Library
That is, copy the Library-folder. When done you can enter the Library Manager and create a new library and point it to the newly copied library.
