Title: Failed to convert message M4A to FLAC
Post by: dbS on December 07, 2010, 08:00:42 pm
I'm using the current MC trial version and converting cd's to flac is working fine. Can't seem to resolve the "failed to convert" message when converting itunes m4a downloads to flac.Do I need to buy before the software will work or what am I missing. I searched and reviewed the interactive site for similar problems and had no luck. Help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Before attempting to convert an m4a file, make sure you go to Tools > Options... > File Types, select AAC Audio (m4a, aac), and change "Playback Method" from "Automatic" to "JRiver audio engine (using DirectShow filters)".  After verifying that m4a files are played through the correct engine, you can then try convert.  There is an newly discovered bug that sends m4a files to JRiver video engine instead of audio engine when the setting is "Automatic".

When build 164 or a later build is released, this bug will be gone and "Automatic" for Playback Method will work too.
