Title: Should I Upgrade?
Post by: stevenf on December 16, 2010, 04:09:01 am
I only use Media Center 14 For Music, therefore Is There Any Reason For Me to Pay the $27 USD For The Version 15. I Mean Audio Wise?

Yes  :)

i dont know "Audio Wise", but there are new stuff http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=56853.0

but the big reason you should upgrade (besides support the great J team) (according to me) is the speeeeeed of the queries against the database, it's amazing

but why not try it ?, you can run 14 and 15 side by side with integrity of your MC14 database

In addition to what's in the New MC15 Features sticky thread there have been some other changes that benefit audio only use as well.  I don't know everything that's changed.  A biggie for me though has been improved VST effect support.  I like to play with EQs and use a couple of VST EQs.  VST support is better in MC15 than MC14.  There's also been some improvements in the WASAPI Event Style mode that is a big benefit to some folks with some fancy (expensive) DACs and not so fancy DACs.  There's been other changes and improvements to the audio pipeline and processing as well in MC15.

I use MC15 almost exclusively for audio.  I find it worth the upgrade for my use.  The audio only users weren't ignored in this upgrade.

Yes.  I'd actually say that MC15 has seen much more of an audio-related focus than the last couple of versions.
