Title: Archos 101
Post by: wig on December 21, 2010, 05:03:13 am
I have an Archos 101 tablet on order, but it won't arrive until after the holidays. I'll try gizmo on it and give you a review when i have it in hand.

Great. That Pad seems like a GREAT remote control :) I'm a BIT sad I just spent a few hundred on a Harmony 900 now...

I managed to snag a 101 off Archos.com just before the holidays. Gizmo works great on it.

Some important tips:
* Update the firmware before doing anything (I would vote against installing the optional apps)
* Then,  install the google market as shown here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867303
* Finally, install a replacement launcher: Launcher Pro,  Go Launcher,  or Zeam (my choice)
* Keep up to date on developments at http://forum.archosfans.com/viewforum.php?f=64 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=875
* Have fun with your new toy!

Good advice, skeeterfood. I managed to get one overnighted on Christmas Eve, and it has been great so far. I like the ADW launcher more than Zeam, but either should work fine.

Haven't had much chance to play with Gizmo yet. Audio seems to work fine, but images keep crashing the app. I'll have a more thorough review later on.
