1) am using Mp3Utilty and Helium 2...for checking for bad mp3's
mp3 says they are bad helium 2 says they are good
whose right?
2) i know your familiar with the developers of helium 2
and a new release hasnt been posted in a while
wondering if you knew why
appreciate you expertise as always
thanks

also what do you do if 1 program says they are bad
but the other one says they are good..

Some Problems Are At The Last Frame Of The MP3
MP3 Utility Does Not Check The Last Frame So This Could Cause A Problem In One And Not The Other.
MP3 Utility Does Not Do As Good Of A Job As Helium 2 In Detecting Bad Frames.
When I Was Downloading MP3's I Always Used Both And Deleted Any That Came Up As Bad.
I Do Not Know The Inner Workings Of The Programs, I Just Know That Helium Works Better.
Both May Miss Some Bad Frames That You May Hear When Doing A Playback Of The MP3

No, I Have Not Even Checked.
One other low tech way to check for a bad MP3 is, does it have an ID3v1 Tag? If Not It May Be Bad Due To The Fact That Part Off The File Was Cut Off And Since The ID3v1 Tag Is At The End Of The File You Can Asume The File is Not Complete (Not Always True).

if a file is MEDIUM in helium is this still considered good?
or does it have to be GOOD to be good?
also have you ever tried Mp3test (think thats the name of it)

also in Helium it lists the file as "GOOD" on the left
but in the right panel in yellow highlight it says
File May Not Be Complete
whats up with that?
appreciate your help as always
thanks

you know any CDDB lookup programs that work with
individual files instead of whole albums too?

If i remember what he said about that is the frame count is off, and this could be just that the last frame is cut, something you may never hear.

Need to be good to be good.
