Title: Welcome to Sweet 16
Post by: JimH on January 27, 2011, 02:06:55 pm
We'll post a few early copies of MC16 here before opening it up to a wider audience.

Some of early builds did work with an MC15 license.  They now require an MC16 license.

Yay new beta(s) :D Bring it on!

I'm so going to instant-upgrade my licence as soon as the new v16 licences go live.

ps: I would really like to request a new default theme for mc16. Noire has been here with us since version 12 if i recall correctly?

Just curious when I passed 100 posts the string under my name changed to Sweet 16 and this post has the same reference.
Is there a correlation between the 2, I am guessing there is since I could not see this board until I hit "Sweet 16".

This board is only open to users who have been around a while.  Please don't share that or anything else from this board on other boards here.

I'm gonna jump on the beta ASAP. Looking forward to it!

Just noticed the MC16 board. Thanks for letting me take a look at the next release.

Haven't been around much since I've been helping my sister a lot for the past 9 months but now my life is returning to normarlish. Just started coming back to the board and what a sweet surprise to see 16. ;D

Just a quick post to say: Thank you !!

I think I cried when I saw "relational fields" as a new feature  ;)

I've just played a little with it, obviously features need some polishing but it's definitely a big step:
- on 3 tries, "play doctor" gave me decents playlists. it seems to have some problems with classical music though. Also it should be easier to access. Right now playack should be stop to display it.
- relational fields... I've dreamed about them since MC12... Needs to be allowed from other fields than artists, albums and series but this first step seems promising
- artist images are a good example of what will be the future of MC with a relational database. Multiple pictures would be great.

That's all i've played with at this time but I'll look more closely at next builds  ;D

Thanks again

Guillaume

I agree with Arbiter, a new skin would be a great new addition to a new version. Also, i've noticed that the icon has been the same for quite some time, so how about a new icon, or perhaps even several icons that we media center users can choose from. Several different colors, instead of the standard blue center.

So I find out today that 16 will now need a new license, costing me some $17 dollars.

The only debate I had over the possible purchase was about what credit card I should use.

You folks have a wonderful product and the various versions of MC are worth every penny I have ever paid. Thank you.

Can we test in a machine getting it's library from MC15 library server?

MC16 won't work with an MC15 Library Server.

Why would you do this?

Why would you do this?
This is my topology.
On a WHS, I have MC15 running as library server. Around the house 5 pcs/laptops, get the library from it.
Having an extra laptop available, i was thinking to test MC16 that way, not disturbing anyone at home.
:)

Ahh... As basically a "dev" environment.  That makes sense.

Consider installing MC16 on the dev machine and using it only with the local laptop (with it's own library, obviously).  This doesn't let you test out the Library Server stuff, obviously, but that is mostly all related to multi-machine installations anyhow.

Thanks.
I'll do as you suggest, thought without having the feeling of the entire thing..
In other words, this couldn't be considered as a beta testing in a home enviroment.
In a lab with 2 computers, yes..., this would be a beta test!

Finally, I am seeing some light at the end of the tunnel at MC like the new features of 16, I have partially moved to Squeezecenter setup mainly because streaming clients and remote control but deep down I still like MC as media centre but will hold out until JRiver ID matures and importantly feature reach full Remote control is available...not impressed by Webremote and Gizmo....willing to pay good money for intuitive GUI remote control.

Images things:

Will I find an option to download photos as a Windows AutoPlay (connect a camera when MC is not running, select 'Import photos from camera using MC', having MC downloading and importing the photos to library and closing or opening MC when done. With options to set smart destination folders for few cameras using Exif info like Model)?

Will it use IPCT info properly (store the Country tag in the file)?

Will it pin to Taskbar when ticking the 'Add a quicklaunch button'?

Title: Re: Welcome to Sweet 16: little nit
Post by: thorathome on February 26, 2011, 08:22:05 am
Just got myself on MC16, skipped 15, paid for 16 to be back on track.

Little nit: when viewing audio file lists, the custom saved Preset (views) forget where I placed the Added New fields.  The Added New field column is in there, just at the end to the right, not where I left the column.  I have added a 'Track Artist' field, and want to see it in the MC.  But it always drifts back to the end of the field table using my Preset view.

Thanks for all.  Happy to pay for such value.

Got it today, keep it up guys, I'm only using MC for listening, working and converting my music collection, but it's great in that. It's worth this very low price.... thanks

Thank you JRiver for MC and for such frequent updates. I have to be honest I don't really know how to use the full power of the program but the little things I do use don't exist anywhere else, I just wonder what all it can really do.

I have been using Media Center since Media Jukebox(what version I can't remember). I have never even come close to using all of the features of Media Center. But, I have been very pleased with it to do what I do. I always upgrade to the newer version as soon as possible. There have never been any disappointments. It would be interesting to see a new fresh look. I really like the new skin, Carbon. Just wanted to put in my 2 cents. I do more reading here than posting. There are very very few problems. JRiver is doing a great job.

I am a relatively new MC user, but I have repeatedly been blown away by both the development and support offered by JRiver. Having followed Interact threads over the past year, it has been very impressive to see how quickly new ideas are incorporated into the program...there is no comparable product in all PC software, let alone PC audio!

Many thanks to the development team for a great product and nice upgrade!
