Title: TV and WASAPI sound format

Hi all, I think I am missing something here. When I play a recorded TV show I get the following error.

The mixing format of your hardware does not support the current output format.

Please use the Output Format tool in DSP Studio to convert to the mixing format listed below.
Sample Rate: 44100 Hz
Channels: 2
Bits per sample: 32'

Click OK and same message.
Click OK again and TV plays with sound and picture.

I checked the DSP Studio settings and it is as the message states. Resample is set to all sources.

Does TV playback not use DSP?

My Audio settings are set to WASAPI - Event style. If I change to DirectSound then the message goes away.
MP3's play fine and Films with WASAPI - eventstyle as the audio setting.

Yes, if you selected "Same as device used for audio playback" for Playback Device under "Audio for Video, DVD, & Television".  The fact your are getting the message tells that you are using it.

Maybe  you need to check the audio decoder settings.  It may be "FFDShow audio decoder", "AC3Filter" etc.  Check their output format and make sure it is compatible with WASAPI.

Thanks Yaobing, it was the connection type under that setting. I set it to Digital stereo not digital to surround sound.
That sorted it.
