Title: Distorted audio when converting formats
Post by: fleetz on January 29, 2011, 09:41:03 pm
Evaluating 15.0.172 at the moment and converted some m4a > mp3. the results were very distorted and clipping audio levels. The m4a play find and levels are good. There is no audio level adjustments that I can fine in the conversion program.

I have analysed the audio using the MC15 tool and all tracks are around -10.0dB on the m4a.

Is this a bug or something I am not doing?

Regards,

Fleetz

Probably FFDSHOW Audio filter Volume settings.  MC uses DirectShow for MP4 playback, which includes M4A files.  If you have active settings in FFDSHOW for video or whatever, those will apply to conversions too.

I recently converted some m4a files to mp3 and they suffered from the same result.
They were actually too bad to even tolerate.

Hi,

Not sure if the same applies to you, however I had this problem & determined the conversion only had problems with tracks I had ripped using a much earlier version of itunes with low bitrates.  Once I deleted the tracks in itunes & re-imported them MC15 could convert without an issue

Good luck,

Mac
