Title: Soundcard Zoning
Post by: music85 on February 16, 2011, 12:59:25 pm
JRiver Development Staff,

I realize MC will allow you to add additional external soundcards, which will allow you to zone each soundcard for example:  A different room in your house.  Jazz music in the bathroom while taken care of business, Barry White in the bedroom, Salsa music in the kitchen - OK, so that everyone sees the big picture.
Now, what soundcard can I use with "multiple channels" or how can I use the "Same" soundcard but multiple numbers of that card.  Because, if I use the same 2 of the same soundcard, MC does not see XYZ soundcard 1 & XYZ soundcard 2.  Help me fellas - Thanks ;D

I am not sure exactly what you are saying.
Does media center show both cards but with the same name or does it only show 1 instance?

If it is showing both only with the same name you can right click on the system tray volume icon
select "Playback Devices" select one of the devices and click properties. Inside the properties
window you can name the device.
For example: I renamed one of my digital outputs to Yamaha because it is connected to a Yamaha receiver.
