Rough, Jim. ;D
It is the ability to use an IR blaster to control an external set-top box, like a Cable box or a Satellite dish box, and record the feed using a video encoder on your system (like a Hauppauge HD-PVR or the Composite/S-Video input on a tuner card). This is very useful (particularly for the North American audience) because many digital and HD channels are encrypted and require a provider-supplied decoder box to tune the channels for you.
Unfortunately, I'd still call MC16's level of external tuner support "basic" but it is a good start, and will certainly work for many people's needs!

I get that the concept. But I have found to current information on what is the new thing on version 16. Some of the refs in the wiki are outdated and the link to the programs not current. ie The program guide.
Surely, it does not mean that I can use a remote control with a blaster to control my dish dvr. I ask because I entered the tv options section and JRMC16 does not let me do a device configuration???
thus what is the se top box support in MC 16?
