Hi
I've mentioned this since Version 13 and this will be the last time i ever mention it as no-one seems interested in this topic, but as MC 16 is now at MC 16 Beta i thought i would give it one last try. The one aspect that Mc that really bugs me is the fact the Mc uses Album and after That Artis; For Exmapple.
Search: Boston
Boston By Boston
Don't Look Back By Boston
Third Stage By Boston
My Solution is This:
Access Options
Library And Folders
A New Button; Albums Only
Please Someone Tell Me What You Think

Steven:
I am not sure what you are asking for. Are you saying that when it displays you don't want to see the "by Boston"?
Tunetyme
-
Correct. If you look at the iTunes player it only has the albums by a specific artist. Whereas with the Media Center this is displayed in the library;
Boston by Boston
Don't Look Back by Boston
Third Stage by Boston
That is not what i want; what i want is this
Boston
Track 1
Track 2
Track 3
Don't Look Back
Track 1
Track 2
Track 3... and so on.
The track number being the song. I hope this makes things clearer.

Exactly which part of, where in, MC do you see this? How about a screenshot?

It's the behaviour of a Panes View grouped by Album. He wants the "by [Artist]" suppressed when there is only one artist selected. I don't think it's a good idea for such a general-purpose behaviour. It's fine if you know which artist you've selected, but would be annoying (for example) if you did a search which happened to return only one artist.
It's possible to create an expression field =[Album] and then group by that, but that won't group the Albums by Artist. I think the more practical solution is, "Don't let it bug you." ;)

unfortunately It does, and has done for quite some time. And A Simply button in Options would allow each user to decide for him or herself to use it. Below i have some screen shots which will explain explain exactly what i mean.
Below is the Original

Below is what i would like to see
(http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/cd5af96835.jpg) (http://www.freeimagehosting.net/)
And this could be where a button, tick for yes leave blank to keep the Status Quo

I Can't Explain it any better. If this option was included in Media Center 16, i would upgrade without the slightest hesitation
Thanks For all replies

why do you need a button ? :)
now you have them grouped by album (which actually is [Artist] - [Album] but with another header), and the "by" is hardcoded..if you add a custom field like [album], you can have your own grouping..
-
when it comes expressions, i'm completely useles. I've no idea what you mean. Clicking on a button would make it so easy, and as such there would be no need for expressions.

Might be best to avoid specifying an *implementation* (eg. a button), and let others help you find the answer to the problem you want to solve.
The answer is already built in, and is more generalized so that it solves more problems (like yours). Your case is just one in countless other possible I-need-a-button scenarios.
See these, as to how easy it is to remove the text you don't care for, or even more generally, add what you want. You currently have the first situation, but desire the third. Others have mentioned how to change the text that appears in your view. I'll show you one example. (Your "button" turns into just clicking on the pulldown menus).

Thanks for your help, but it's not really what i'm after, so maybe i should just give up and accept that BY Artist will always be there, but thanks again.

Really, its not what you were looking for:?
You don't have to have "by" there!

I think i've kind of figured out how to do it thanks to you suggestions M.RC, so i think i'll stick with out, even though it's not exactly what i want.
Thanks very Much
