This build is the first that will not run at all on my machine. It installs without reporting any error, but upon selecting any option from the left hand side (audio, drives, video etc) it immediately crashes. Reinstalled build 42 and that works fine.
Running on Windows 7.

Just installed latest beta from using 16.0.39 for a while...
Horrible 'lagging' introduced that slows down everything from opening MC16 through to scrolling file lists and opening a song. By lagging I mean 3-4 seconds before MC will respond to any command. Reinstalled 16.0.39 and lagging gone. Would this be anything to do with the sandboxing introduced?

Please try build 43 from the top of this thread.

Please try build 43 from the top of this thread.
The lagging happened with the latest beta...16.0.43 - VERY slow and hesitant. No problems with 16.0.39

A followup post to say I tried rebooting, getting a fresh download of the 43 build installer, and it still crashes as soon as I select any of the options from the lefthand side tree. Is there a log file anywhere I can view to give me a clue as to why it is crashing?

I am experiencing frequent lock ups. I have 0.43 and I am running XP Pro and IE 8. I have no internet access within the program.
If there are any tasks that you need me to do to help identify the problems please let me know.
-
I'm also having serious lag and freeze issues with 0.43. I'm running Windows XP Pro x32. Previous 16.x releases ran with no issues.
-
If you have the problem, turn logging on (under Help), exit MC, restart and after it occurs, please post a log file.
Please report what OS you are running. Win2000 is not supported.
-
Try a reboot.
What OS?
Using Windows 7, 64-bit Quad Core

This new build introduces a sandboxing system for the web engine. This requires inter-process communication. This is a large change, but will eventually be for the better.
If Media Center seems stuck, what happens when you use Task Manager to kill any JRWeb.exe processes (the new sandbox process)?
Thanks.

It was horrific on my netbook but seems to have improved after a reboot.

What email address do you want the log posted to? The email that pops up with the system information and attachment doesn't have a 'To' address filled out.

though i have not tried build 43 yet, i'm seeing these problems in build 42. i play a file and MC frequently crashes. i think i upgraded from build 32, where it wasn't occurring at all. am running win7 64 bit

A new twist to this saga. Now, when I click on AMG or support forum it opens a window using IE8 and locks up trying to connect. I don't know what happened to Chromium that was there before. I've tried to email the logs from the past 2 days. They are lengthy and too long to post in the thread. If I knew what to look for I could cut and paste the problem areas. I plan on reinstalling 0.43 to see if that brings Chromium back.
I plan to start tomorrow's log with all the problem areas that I am aware of to create a brief log that I can post here.
XP Pro with all the latest updates.

Hi JimH
My previous post
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=62854.new;topicseen#new
was diverted here after being locked. With new information I provide below, do you still think that the two problems are related?
NEW DATA POINTS:
1) I installed the latest stable version of the non-beta MC15 from the main download page.
2) The problem is worse in stable MC15 in that 100% of the cpu is taken up (as opposed to 60%-90% in MC16 0.42) after only one or two high kbps songs are played in either 3D Albums view, or Theater View.
3) Using the Standard View improves the situation dramatically in that it take 5 to 7 songs before CPU goes to 100% and stops playing. (What's the implication?)
4) If I click on stop, CPU goes down to about 60 to 70%.
So my problem appears to have nothing to do with beta 16.
Also, if you had intended for me to try .043, I don't see an MC16.043, the latest for download is .039.

i agree running xp pro here getting lots of crashes with the 16.0.42 build have to use the task mgr to close app on reopening shows up improper shut down prompts to revered to default settings all is good in sound quality hope to see radio play option worked awesome in previous builds.

Just upgraded to 16.0.43 build having same problems runs slowly or freezes.

...If Media Center seems stuck, what happens when you use Task Manager to kill any JRWeb.exe processes (the new sandbox process)?...
Still eventually freezes, albeit responsive for a little longer prior to the freeze. I actually had two instances of the process. Maybe one was left over from a previous freeze?

Please email a log showing the problem to matt at jriver dot com.
We haven't been able to reproduce these issues on our side, so step-by-step instructions to reproduce would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm posting this email from Tunetyme here to keep this all in one place:
I started MC and went to AMG which is set up to open in external browser. I have Chrome running to document as I go. I will go through all of the external links. I get nothing until You Tube which opens within MC even though I have it set for external browser. All the attempted openings used IE 8 not Chromium. Next I tried support forum, help wiki, (these failed) and check for updates which appeared to work. It hasn't locked up yet. I am not sure what I did to lock the system up but it should be in the logs. I then tried a few things I normally do from editing the database to importing new files which seems to be taking longer in 0.43. Since it has reverted back to IE8 I haven't had a lock up.
Let me know if you want me to do anything else.
Thanks for the log.
Is the main problem that opening external links from the links bar use IE8? This will use whatever is registered on your system to handle http:// files. I believe many browsers ask 'Do you want this to be the default browser', and this is what they are asking. This is not a JRiver setting.
Thanks again.

Please email a log showing the problem...
Log files sent to the requested email address. I'm having similar issue on my work computer (XP Pro) and home computer (Win 7). The log files are from my work computer.

Matt:
I reset my default browser to Chrome. I can now open AMG etc. in an external browser. It doesn't work with IE 8. The other problem I am having is directX. When I look into configure DSP and select directX It says cannot find DSP DirectX. It is referencing C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 12\Plugins\dsp_DirectX.dll. I deleted 12 and 15 a week ago. I could not find "dsp_DirectX.dll" under MC 16. I changed the directory name on both MC 12 & 15 so it won't look in there again. Is there someplace I can download this? I am trying to get Ozone 4 up and working with 16. When I try to configure either one it does nothing.
Any suggestions?

Uninstall the old DirectX host (DSP Studio > Manage Plugins > Uninstall)
Then, add Ozone (or any other DirectX or VST) plugin using DSP Studio > Manage Plugins > Add.
Both DirectX and VST support are native. You should not use a separate plugin for this.
-
Matt:
I deleted them as suggested. Now it won't accept Ozone. I get an error message "failed" and now it locked up. I will reboot 16 and send you the log.

Please try the VST version instead of the DX version.

If you are experiencing problems showing or leaving a web view (Start, Google, Amazon, etc.), please try this build and let us know if it's any better:

Thanks.

Matt:
I reinstalled Ozone to make sure the VST plugin was installed. I went to tools plug-in manager add plug-in and I still get the failure to install. Am I missing something? Is there a special place to install VST plugins?

I'm not sure if you expected it or not, but the 0.46 release fixed my lag/freeze issues.
