Title: Lots of Network Traffic

I've just installed MC16, and one of the problems that I've encountered is that it seems to be clogging up my bandwidth pretty badly. There's a lot of receive traffic coming from cds40.ord9.msecn.net. Is this a one time thing? Is it normal?

That's Microsoft.  Maybe it's a Windows update?

That's what I thought, it looks like a content delivery network address. However, the TCPIP connection is with Media Center 16.exe, and when I shut MC16 down, it stops.

I found this quote about msecn.net:

JRiver doesn't make any calls to msecn.net. 

I suppose it's possible when we import files it's causing your virus software to want to update itself with new definitions?

Thanks guys, you nailed it - I use InTune. I assume that the new install would be inclined to touch a bunch of files.

To test, I disabled InTune (a variant of MSE) and it disappeared.

I wanted to follow up on this.

I'm not sure why this didn't happen until MC16, but it never happened with MC15.

The machine I'm using acts as a MC Server, and is quite active. It looks like the streams were being continually scanned, eating up bandwidth. Turning MSE back on restarted the problem. The solution was to add Media Center 16.exe to the excluded processes in MSE.

MSE is a pretty common anti virus, so this might be worth noting somewhere.

Which does include that tip.  I use MSE on all of my Windows machines.  For whatever reason, it seems machine-specific.  I have to exclude the MC processes and scanned directories on one of my machines, but not the others.

I don't know why.  They're all running (supposedly) the same stuff: same version of Windows, same MSE, and same MC.
