Title: How does MC16 handle mutliple soundtracks in an m4v file?
Post by: fitbrit on March 20, 2011, 12:34:01 am
I have some video files in m4v format, which have both a stereo AAC soundtrack and a 5.1 AC3 one.

FFdshow in MPC-HC recognises both and I can switch between them. Ffdshow in MC 16 only sees the stereo AAC and indeed the "channels" column in standard view is populated with "2" for these files. This is true even if I use the MPC Mpeg splitter in MC.

Any light shed on this would be most welcome.

Do you want to post a small sample?

Do you want to post a small sample?

That might be difficult since the files are about 600 MB, and I don't know how to edit them to something smaller. I could upload it somewhere, I suppose.

What happens if you use Haali Media Splitter?  MC's Stream Selection context menu should offer both streams.

With FFDShow, you have to use FFDShow's interface.  I do not know why it only gives you one.  As for the Channel field, we use whatever the DirectShow graph tells us.  So if the graph is set to use the AAC stream during importing, that is what gets imported.

Thanks for the suggestions, Yaobing.
When I try to use Haali, it never gets passed the first frame.
