Options->Encoding
 - set Encoder: FLAC Encoder
 - set Encode settings... Verify encoding, Add 4k padding block, Add seek table (if possible)

Options->CD & DVD
 - set Copy Mode: Secure

Can you clarify what you mean by "well-preserved tags" ?

Bonjour,

I have understood your recommandations and I am going to test them.
"Well preserved tags" = i want when i rip a cd that picture cd,  artist and songs names will be correctly write in the system.
For the best audio quality (pc will be connect to a good hifi system), what is the good setpoint for "quality settings" (on 6 in the system / what does it mean ?) + are others points to be changed for the best audio quality?

The media center 16 is it better than the 15?

I hope my language is clear enough ?? school english !!!

Merci encore.

If the option to lookup CD track information is set, the artwork and track information will be downloaded when the CD is inserted.  Correct any track information that is not correct, and add track information when it is missing from JRiver's database YADB.

The quality remains the same; it is lossless.  The "quality settings" should really be "how hard to work at compressing the file".  You can leave it at the default, or increase it for marginally smaller FLAC files.  I increase mine to maximum, as 1) encoding is fast enough for me, and 2) the disk savings adds up enough for me.

FLAC encoding and playback quality will be the same.  If you are purchasing, then you'll be getting a 16 license anyway.  But check out the new features in the MC16 beta threads.  http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=62352.0

That's just the file association you see in Explorer.  It's still a FLAC file.   See MC Options for Filetype and set it the way you want.

Thank you.
Another question: for encoder settings-qality settings = 6 => what does it mean ? Is it speed encoding?
What is the best 1 or 10?

Thank you again.
Not foverer easy to learn american technical langage for me french !!!!!

Help again
You write:
The quality remains the same; it is lossless.  The "quality settings" should really be "how hard to work at compressing the file".  You can leave it at the default, or increase it for marginally smaller FLAC files.  I increase mine to maximum, as 1) encoding is fast enough for me, and 2) the disk savings adds up enough for me
Question : 'I increase mine to maximum' = quality settings on 10 or on 1 ??

Merci

Maximum means most, highest, biggest, largest.  Which one matches that description best, 10 or 1 ?  :-)

Bonjour,

Other question for images view:

Why in full screen, images JPEG are divided in 4 parts?

Merci

The FLAC "quality" aka compression strength settings are from 0 to 8 (not 1 to 10). The setting 0 is a super fast setting that does not compress very well. The setting 8 makes the smallest files and is slowest to encode (i.e. compress).

FLAC is a so called asymmetric codec - the compresssion speed varies, but decoding (i.e. decompression) speed is almost the same independently of the used encoding setting. FLAC 0 is only slightly faster to decode than FLAC 8.

Some other lossless codecs provide better compression than FLAC. For instance, usually Monkey's Audio at "Normal" produces smaller files and encodes 2-3x faster than FLAC -8. On the other hand, FLAC provides a lot faster decoding speed than Monkey's Audio.

Alex is correct, 0 to 8.  I'd forgotten the scale was 0 to 8, not 0 to 10.

Here's a bit more explanation of what the different levels mean, and how they translate into block sizes, and compression search algorithm:

http://flac.sourceforge.net/documentation_tools_flac.html#flac_options_level_0 (http://flac.sourceforge.net/documentation_tools_flac.html#flac_options_level_0)

Merci à tous,

Now clear to me for this scale (1-8)
For a joke about interpretation of scales, Mohamed Ali was the world's No. 1 boxing that means The Most, Highest, Biggest, Largest...

Until you have enough posts, you'll have to use an external image sharing site.  You can use JRiver's Pix01 and upload via MC.  Send To->Gallery->Menalto Gallery.  Then, use [ img ]  [ / img ] tags (no spaces) to include the link.

Impossible for me to insert a image into your system   (Not easy to understand the method in American).
The problem with full screen display with MC "images":   the image is divided into four parts of equal size representing different parts of the image.

Merci.
