I found this on the intel forums: wonder if a problem with rendering explains the issue I'm having.

Have there been any other reports of trouble with the intel HD 3000 graphics in MC?

I hate to have to consider adding a second graphics card for this ...

I see I'm not the only one with this issue: presumably something with the 3D graphics driver?

I found this thread on the intel support forum. Will report back if tweaking some of these settings fixes it.  (I'm at work now, so can't access the Media center machine.)

MC 16.0.72 may fix this problem.  It's at the top of this board:

Intel integrated graphics did not correctly support full screen anti-aliasing.
