Title: importing hangs with m4a files
Post by: quirtep on April 21, 2011, 06:30:59 am
I am trying to import the contents of an external hard drive to my Media Center library.  It consistently hangs.  I cannot identify which file or files it hangs on because it doesn't show me the current file being imported.  I just have to end the process and restart Media Center.  It is an m4a file of some sort because when I import other file types, it works fine.  How can I figure out which files are causing the trouble?  How can I make Media Center import the files without getting hung up?  Thank you.

What build of MC16 are you using?  16.0.72 is available at the top of this board.

OK, I installed the current build.  I might have been a bit out of date.  Now, it gives me "Media Center has stopped working" during the import process, and it Windows closes the application.

Make sure that it's set to automatic for that file type in MC's options.

Please use Help > Logging and send the previous log after a hang to matt at jriver dot com.

Thanks.

Please try to change the file names.  I have had same issue but after I have re-organized file names, it has been fixed.

I tried it on my other laptop, and it worked without crashing, so all is well.  Thanks for the suggestions.
