Title: Rookie at video and movie ripping
Post by: joh on April 22, 2011, 01:50:17 am
Hi Guys,
Having spent years and years on developing and using my music library, I have now decided to also use MC to manage and watch movies. My first question is, what is the preferred way of ripping and storing. I want a 'lossless' format. Someone recommended storing as mkv files. I tried to find some primer on 'movie ripping' on the forum, by did not manage to find anything. Could someone direct me to some useful article on this topic, or give me some practical suggestion?

All the best from Göteborg, Sweden, where spring is finally arriving.

Olle

I use DVD Shrink 3.2 (http://www.dvdshrink.org/what_en.php)

Copy and paste from the "About DVD Shrink"
Doom9 has written an excellent DVD Shrink Guide (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdshrink31-main.htm) which covers pretty much everything you can do with DVD Shrink.

Also a detailed DVD Shrink Guide (http://www.dvdr-digest.com/articles/23_1.html) at DVD±R Digest.

Check out ddlooping's interactive guides at dvdshrink.info (http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php)

mrbass has written an excellent guide with lots of screenshots at mrbass.org (http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/)
