I presumed that MC 16 permitted building a database of Youtube links so that files could be cataloged, tagged, put in playlists and played without downloading the file. After some false starts, I was able to get this to work - using Windows Media player engine.
However, after several hours, linked records do not play. Repeating the linking process, I find that the URL for a new link is different than an old one.
For example - these are the urls returned for the same youtube files at different times of day:
http://v6.lscache2.c.youtube.com/videoplayback?sparams=id,expire,ip,ipbits,itag,algorithm,burst,factor,oc:U0hPSFhUT19FSkNOOV9QTlND&fexp=903903,904510,910207&algorithm=throttle-factor&itag=18&ipbits=0&burst=40&sver=3&signature=A3995A919EE6071126B1182DD39829EAE8FBA9D3.C050E7487AB85E4A6D3339F508CFC87CB15FB326&expire=1303891200&key=yt1&ip=0.0.0.0&factor=1.25&id=19f3d3b2b4624660

The top one works now. The bottom one worked 10 hours ago. I deleted one that worked yesterday, but not today.
The error message reads - "Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server. The server name might not be correct, the server might not be available, or your proxy settings may not be correct."
Is MC 16 able to do what I thought I could do, or does Youtube frequently change the server link rules so that links can not be stored?

Also, why does MC play a low res version of a YouTube HD-video when streaming it, while downloading the same video gives you the HD version? Does it measure the connection speed (which in my case is 24 Mbit, about 7 times what's needed for a YouTube HD video I tested with) or is there a setting for it I've missed?

On a related note, I have the problem that my default setting for downloading the file and adding to library (or the window where i can choose if no default is selected), doesn't appear every time, sometimes the video justs starts to stream in the browser, anyone else who have noticed this?
