Hi,
I recently starting enconding to MPC instead of MP3. Everything worked well until I upgraded to MC16.0.75.
Now MC crashes trying to import or play any MPC file.
My MC 15.0.174 still works ok (MPC and all)
I tried uninstalling MC 16 and reinstalling it, but I get the same.
This is what's found on the event viewer:

I can't reproduce the problem with my Musepack files.
I don't think the Musepack decoder has changed in MC16. Do other formats play correctly with the same output mode and DSP settings? Did you use an older MC16 build and did it work before installing the build 75?
It is quite odd that also just importing MPC files crashes MC, because the playback engine is not involved when the files are imported.
You could enable MC's own logging (from the Help menu) and check if the crash shows up in the "Previous Log" after restarting MC. You can paste the last few lines of it to your reply.

all kind of musepack tag editing crashes MC for me. I noticed that some Monkey Audio library version was updated and musepack uses APE tags so maybe that has broken somethin

Hi Alex,
I think lepa is right. Is not playing or importing is simply the MPC format.
This is what I mean:
-I start MC 16, click on Audio on the left pane (List Style>Detail, Group By>Album).
-The first few albums are all mp3, i start scrolling down
-When I reach the first album that's encoded on MPC, MC just crashes.
To answer your question:
Yes, I had one or two MC 16 builds that worked correctly (MPC and all). It was right after installing the current version that I started having problems.
I enabled logging. These are the last few lines>

The Traditional Jazz Christmass is the first mpc album that makes MC crash.
Hope this helps.
-
Please email a sample MPC file that causes a crash (maybe C:\Users\Pato\Music\Various - Holiday & Christmas Songs\Traditional Jazz Christmas\01 - Louis Armstrong - Christmas In New Orleans.mpc from the log) to matt at jriver dot com.
Thanks.
-
Hi Matt,
i sent the email with the song.
Let me know if you received it.
Thanks

Hi!
I too have this problem (probably). Just scrolling my library crashes MC 16.0.75. And Analyze Audio too... Probably when it encounters the first mpc-file. I'm not shure about this though. First I thought it could be display driver related but then I read this post...
I had 16.0.73 before and it seemed to work ok.
-
Looks like the barf is when it's being analyzed. It's fixed in the next build.
-
16.0.81 seems to have fixed my issues... Thanks!
