Title: WP7 MC Remote Poll

Hi All,

When you're a frequent visitor of these pages you possibly have read that I'm programming an App for Windows Phone 7 at the moment. I have a bit of a pain question. I've read on the Microsoft Zune pages that when I would like to register my App with Zune I have to become a registered developer. This is going to cost me $100.00 per year. Microsoft rules that an App must at least cost $0.99. Now I'm willing to pay that price and keep programming because it's a lot of fun. I would however like to know how many of you are really interested because it is a lot of work.

That one vote was me. Guess this means I'm the only one using WP7 around here! I won't take it personally if you don't fork out the $100 on my account...

Just commited a version of MC Remote to the Microsoft Markertplace. Don't know how long testing of MS is going to take. I'll let you know if and when the App passes.

There are some known issues some of which I haven't found a way to resolve yet:

  • Sliders don't work correctly anymore after show pages 'Playlists' and 'Search'. Reported the issue on the WP Forum.
  • Mute is implemented without access to MC. Reported this to JRiver.
  • Search shows only icons for Audio files. Others have to be implemented.
  • When an error occurs the message stays after repair. Just shut down and start again.
  • Clicking and holding on a list does not select the item before showing the pop-up. This is quite irritating because this way you first have to select (click) and then click and hold.
Version 1.0.0.0 Is still in the Submission Process. My Marketplace Account has been aproved in the mean time.

Version 1.0.0.1 This update will be submitted as soon as 1.0.0.0 is accepted by MS.

    • Double tap navigates back.
    • Found a way to get around the selection problem with pop-up menus. Is implemented.
    • Sliders still remain a problem.
    • App is localized (englisch, german and dutch).

    • Found out I can do the Mute via the MCC Commands. Is implemented.
  • Search page.
    • One can now select multiple tracks to play or add as next.
    • Search now also shows the thumbnails.

Testing by MS failed :( When a Theme changes to light you get white icons on a white background hmmmmm.. They are right. This seems easy to fix but WP7 does not help me much here. I'll have to cook up some code myself. You will have to show a bit more patience I'm afraid. Will let you know when the next submission will be (soon I think).

Submitted 2 Versions of MC Remote today:

Lite Version:
- Main page with Previous, Play, Stop, Next, Mute buttons. 2 Sliders for scrubbing and volume.
- Song details are shown when clicking the image.
- Playlists page.
- Search page. A single item can be selected and played (as next).

Pro Version for $3.99. Same as above but with extra:
- In Search page are multiple songs selectable and can be played (as next). Selection order is maintained.
- A View page from which MC can be controled for Normal, Mini, Display, Theater and Cover views.
- In the View page a Zoom function is available for images in Display mode.

Both Versions support English and German localization.

I will let you know how MS testing goes.

Hope it makes it through testing soon, I was looking at your video and it does look pretty cool. One thing I was wondering about, on the video the two sliders are kind of narrow. How are they to use with a finger?

The Phone sliders have narrow display but larger touch area (the area below the blue line). I don't think that is going to be a problem.
